## Chat in both directions

Messages from the game are posted to your channel as embeds. Messages from Discord show up in game with \[Discord\] in front.

_Animation: a player writes in the Minecraft chat and the message appears as an embed in a Discord channel. Replies from Discord appear in game with [Discord] in front of the name. Joins and advancements are relayed as well._

## Connected in three steps

Status, charts and embeds only need the bot. You need the plugin once you want chat in both directions.

1. 1

    ### Invite the bot

Add the bot to your Discord server with the invite link. It only asks for the permissions it needs for channels, webhooks and messages.

2. 2

    ### Run /setup

The command walks you through the setup step by step: pick a channel, pick a type, done.

3. 3

    ### Connect the plugin

Put the jar in your plugins or mods folder and start the server. In Discord, connect it with /server connect (or /server add with a channel), put the token into config.yml and restart the server. Your server opens the connection, so you don't need to open any ports.

## What the bot does

The most-used features. Each one links to the matching command in the command reference.

### Check your server without starting the game

Enter an address and the bot shows whether the server is online, plus MOTD, version, edition and player count. Works with Java and Bedrock. If both run on the same address, pick one with the edition option. Save a default server with /default-ip set and /status works without an address.

### Two-way chat between Minecraft and Discord

Messages from the game show up in the Discord channel, messages from the channel show up in the game. Joins, deaths and advancements can be turned on and off separately. Your server opens the connection, so there's no port to forward and no password to store.

### Discord emojis and pictures in the Minecraft chat

Players who install MC-Sync in their own game see Discord messages the way they look in Discord: custom emojis as pictures, images and GIFs below the message, spoilers covered. Typing a colon in the chat suggests your Discord server's emojis. Players without the mod see the line as before. The same file from Modrinth also keeps their game up to date with your modpack. Emojis and pictures in the chat come with Premium.

### One modpack, the same for every player

Upload your modpack in the dashboard as an .mrpack or CurseForge export. Your players enter the pack code once in the main menu. With every update, MC-Sync shows them first what changes: which mods are added, updated or removed, and which config settings change. Everyone picks what they take. It's installed when Minecraft closes, and an update can be undone. Mods only come from Modrinth and CurseForge and are checked when they download. For every server, no Premium needed.

### Deaths and advancements as images

Instead of a line of text, the bot posts an image for a death or an advancement, drawn the way the game draws it. There are four designs – toast, card, scene and line – set separately for deaths and advancements. Pick them in the dashboard or with /server event-images.

### Your server's files in the dashboard

The dashboard shows all of your server's files, sorted by plugin and mod. You can edit server.properties and most configs as a form, everything else as text. Older versions of a file can be restored. You don't need FTP for this, and you don't have to open a port either.

### Look up a player, inventory included

/player shows whether someone is online or when they were last on, along with playtime, deaths, kills and their linked Discord account. The buttons below lead to statistics and advancements. With the right permission you also see their inventory and ender chest as an image, live or as last saved. Only you see those images.

[/diagram](https://mc-sync.eu/en/commands/#diagram)

### Player numbers over time

Shows the player count as a chart over the last 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. Recording starts the first time a server is looked up.

### Voice channels with the server status in their name

A voice channel whose name shows status, player count or version. Everyone sees it at the top of the channel list without running a command. Discord rate-limits channel renames, so the bot updates the name about every 25 minutes.

### Auto-updating embeds

A message that updates every five minutes, as a status overview, the whitelist or a chart. It stays in place instead of filling the channel with new messages.

## Try it for free

The bot is free. Everything that doesn't need changes on your Minecraft server works right after you invite it.
