Displays

Show the status of a Minecraft server in Discord at all times, as an embed or in the name of a voice channel.

A display shows the state of a Minecraft server in Discord and keeps itself up to date. An embed is a message the bot edits every five minutes. A voice channel carries the status in its name, right in the channel list. Status, player count and version only need the server address, no plugin.

Set up

Embed

  1. In the dashboard, open "Displays".
  2. Click "New embed …".
  3. Pick "Type", "Channel" and "Server". If the server isn't in the list, enter its address under "Address".
  4. Check the preview and click "Post to #server-info now".

Voice channel

  1. Open "Displays" and, under "Voice channels", click "New voice channel …".
  2. Pick "Type" and "Server", or enter the "Address".
  3. Click "Create".

The bot creates the channel. Nobody can join it. It sets the name within a minute.

What an embed shows

Dashboard/embed typeContents
Server statusStatusOnline status, player count, MOTD and version
WhitelistWhitelistWho is on the whitelist
Player chartDiagramPlayer count over time as a chart
Player statisticsPlayer statsWho plays the most. Needs the connection to the plugin.
ConnectionConnectionWhether chat gets through between Discord and the server. Needs a server from the list.
Server performanceTPS, tick time and memory. Needs a server from the list.

/embed add also takes language for the embed's language (yours by default) and edition for an address that serves both Java and Bedrock.

Only in the dashboard:

  • Edit: change the type, server and language of an existing embed. Not the channel, since Discord can't move messages.
  • Appearance: "Colour", "Custom title", "Custom footer", "Show server icon" and "Show footer". The bot decides which fields the embed contains.

Remove

  • Embed: "Stop" in the dashboard, or /embed remove embed: and pick it from the list. The message stays and is no longer updated.
  • Voice channel: "Delete" in the dashboard, or /voice-channel remove channel:. The bot deletes the channel.

/embed list and /voice-channel list show what exists. All options are in the command reference under /embed and /voice-channel.

Problems

The display says "Offline" while the server is running

Not every domain is a server address: hypixel.net doesn't respond, mc.hypixel.net does. Use the address you join with in the game.

The voice channel name barely changes

Discord allows only a few renames per channel. That's why the bot updates voice channels about every 25 minutes. If you need faster values, use an embed.

The voice channel can't be created

The bot needs the "Manage Channels" permission on the Discord server.

The embed stopped updating

  • If the message or the channel was deleted, the bot stops. Create a new embed.
  • The bot needs "Send Messages" and "Embed Links" in the channel. If a permission is missing for about an hour and a half, it gives up on the embed.

"Connection" can't be posted

This type needs a server from the server list, an address isn't enough. Add it under Servers and connect it with chat sync.
