Troubleshooting

Sorted by symptom, with a link to the page that has the fix.

Find the symptom that matches your problem. Each entry leads to the "Problems" section of the page that has the fix.

Check first

  1. Run /mcsync status in the game. It shows whether the connection to the bot is up, which commands the server accepts and whether there's an update.
  2. In the dashboard, open the server and the "Connection & chat" tab. Under "Token", "Last used" shows when the server last checked in.
  3. Look at the Minecraft server's log. A rejected token and blocked connections show up there.

Connection

  • The server shows "Never connected" or doesn't check in: Chat sync
  • /mcsync doesn't exist in the game: Chat sync
  • The address or server name is refused: Servers

Chat

  • Messages from Discord don't show up in the game: Chat sync
  • Messages show up as an embed instead of with the player's head: Chat sync
  • A channel isn't in the list: Chat sync

Commands and console

  • "You are not allowed to run this command" or "The server does not allow this command": Commands from Discord
  • A command runs, but the reply has no output: Commands from Discord
  • Nothing arrives in the console channel, or lines are missing in the live console: Console
  • A flow doesn't run or turned itself off: Flows

Whitelist

  • "Player not found" or "Not added to the whitelist": Whitelist
  • Players join without being on the whitelist: Whitelist
  • A Bedrock name can't be added: Whitelist

Accounts and roles

  • The code from /link start isn't accepted: Link accounts
  • A role doesn't trigger anything in the game: Role sync
  • A Discord role isn't given, or keeps coming and going: Role sync

Displays and notices

  • A display says "Offline" while the server is running: Displays
  • An embed or voice channel stopped updating: Displays
  • No notices arrive, or the ping mentions nobody: Notices
  • A notification from "My notifications" doesn't arrive: Watch servers

Getting help

If your problem isn't here, ask in the support Discord. Include:

  • the output of /mcsync status
  • loader and Minecraft version, for example Paper 1.21.4
  • what you expected and what happened instead

Never send a token, not even to support.
